Just curious
where would you (or, perhaps more accurately, your
characters) like to live in Morrowind.
When I
first stated Morrowind I had a fondness for Caldera. It
seemed a nice town with lots of convenient services. But
since I’ve grown fond of Pelegiad – a very nice, even
picturesque, town by a lake. Sure, it doesn’t have much
in the way of services, but there are enough
teleportation systems that it’s not a
problem.
Naturally, the house I’m working on is
there and has a nice view of the lake.
Hmm... If we
forget about house mods that might make a certain area
extra attractive...
I'd say Caldera. Or
Pelagiad. It's nice places with good service,
people appear to be rather friendly.
Caldera has
good transport options with Mages Guild service to all
main cities. The surburbns look quite nice with all the
pretty flowers. We also have Monica21's buyable
Ghorak Manor in Caldera, and Neko's Sakaki Manor with
very special staff close by.
Pelagiad has good
services at the fort, and I can cast a simple divine
intervention spell to get home. The lake is close by,
although the slaughterfishes might keep me from taking a
bath And, of course, let's not forget about
Korana's Ascadian cottage close by, or Abu's house.
When I first
started playing, I thought that Pelegiad was an ideal
place. Now, I would choose there or a small place
somewhere on the coast between Seyda Neen and Ebon
Heart.
I'm often
playing as a Redoran. In that case, I guess I should
choose a Redoran area. But NEVER Ald-ruhn!!! Aaargh,
those sand storms! And the 'nature'! Nope, would hate to
live there. But Gnisis isn't bad! Great market area,
you can swim in the river, go climbing the mountain,
cast intervention to get home and there's silt strider
connection to several places. The place is well
protected thanks to the garrison.
Hmm...Maybe
Vivec. So many nice places. Hundreds of places in
fact!
But I would love to live in Mournhold.
Beautiful Fountains, Terrific Market Palace, Gorgeous
Temple and heaps of Manors. A royal Palace, a bunch of
horrible Sewers. What more could you want?

What more could you want?
Heh, Maybe Princess Stomper's Mournhold Expansion .
I'm a city
girl. I'm currently still in Rethan Manor, but I'll
probably have to get a house in Balmora itself -
probably DomeHome, once I've redecorated a bit I have a new manor just outside Vivec (next
door to Laura) as it's the handiest spot for the boats
and the stiltstriders, and I don't like Vivec itself
(such a pain to get around...). But I haven't moved in
yet, as Ijust finished building it, and I'm still
exterminating the bugs infesting it... darn amateur
builders!
You can keep the quiet pretty villages!
Too dull for me!
If you ask me, that is the way the city
should have looked. And in fact, if you look at the
pre-production sketches, that basically is how it was
originally being designed. The only problem is that if
you use this mod, you'll have take some time to "fix"
your other mods that effect the city and its
inhabitants. I'm debating whether I want to spend that
time or not right now.
It's an ESP only, so it's
pretty small for what it does. I would say definately
worth a look, even if you won't keep it.
Ah, home, sweet
home ... As my favourite character and I myself
seem to share a similar taste in "where would I like to
live" matters, I may as well simply list her
favourite spots. *mutters* Which
means not too little typing ... she's been collecting
homes like other people collect stamps ... or weapons
... or companions, in some cases!
Balmora That town has
become almost a second home to me (and I am rather sure
I'm not exactly in the minority there ...). Of course,
as Mora (that character I spoke of) has joined House
Hlaalu and even become its leader, Balmora is a very
appropriate main seat for her. But the one thing most
responsible for my taking root there is the
...
Balcony House One of the first
house mods I ever downloaded, and the first one I
decided to actually move into. By now, Mora has several
times made a mess of the place, cleaned up again, and
made a mess of it again. How could anyone ever leave
such a place again? It's full of memories, after
all! No, really, I have never managed to make
her leave that house for good. It always was, is, and
most certainly will stay her main home in all of
Morrowind. Not even the acquisition of
...
Rethan Manor could change that! Not
even with Baratheon79's great Rethan Expansion
... though it does make it an actual home for
her. And I very much assume that she'll drop by more
often in the future, as soon as a certain (very) young
lady has moved into Rethan Manor ...
Fern Grotto A breathtakingly
beautiful grotto near the waterfall north of Balmora
(and part of DiamondGirl's not-yet-released Forgotten
Shrines) which Mora instantly fell in love with when
we were beta testing the mod. Of course, that makes a
full three (!) homes in and around Balmora ...
but I couldn't part with any of them. Oh well, time for
getting a split personality!
Mournhold Easy to
explain: I started to play Tirbunal and went to
Mournhold for the first time ... Any questions?
No, seriously, I love the
architecture of that city! I almost instantly started to
search for a Mournhold house mod, but at that time there
were very few of those around. Luckily enough, Lochnarus
was creating a Mournhold house at that time (originally
for Telesphoros, if memory serves), and I instantly
adopted it.
And I won't leave Mournhold again ...
ever! (For good, I
mean.)
Solstheim Ah, Solstheim ...
even though coming to Vvardenfell was like coming home
for Mora, she lost her heart to Solstheim as well
... *dreamy sigh* Guess that even a
mere glance at the homes she has collected there proves
that point well enough!
The Mead Hall of Thirsk Her
favourite hall of drunkards and braggarts. Sometimes I
suspect that she considers the Thirsk as "her" folks
more than any other faction of the whole game,
expansions and mods included! (So far, that is. She's been busy
building up quite a connection to the people of Lokken
recently, too ...) For the time being, Thirsk seems to
be her main home on Solstheim.
Raven
Rock Mora hasn't yet really moved into the
Factor's Estate, but that's only because I still have to
find (probably mod it myself) a mod to make it a
good home. But nevertheless, Raven Rock does feel
like home for her. (Put enough blood and sweat into it,
after all! )
A Campfire at Brodir
Grove Eh, well ... there's some sort of
semi-permanent campsite at Brodir Grove, on a hill
between the standing stones and the water (?) stone
nearby ... It was such a beautiful spot that I never had
the heart to break camp again. And it's nice to see the
fire burning in the nightly forests, waiting for you to
return to its warmth ...
Kolfinna's
cave Never thought that Mora might ever move into
a flat share (next she'll be complaining about tuition
fees! ), but after helping Kolfinna claim Wergild,
she was offered to share Kolfinna's cave home whenever
she wanted. (So for the moment, it's more a latent than
a current home ...)
The Bloodskal
House Same as the Factor's Estate - i.e., in need
of refurbishment - but if I ever get around to it, this
one will of course be an actual home of hers as well.
(Not a primary one, though, not even on
Solstheim.)
Lokken Unavoidable,
after laying eyes on the beauty of that island for the
first time ... *another dreamy sigh*
For now, Mora has a campsite at the end of that pass
that leads from the Main Hall to the valley beyond, and
her Ashlander Tent a bit north of the green
eastern part of Lokken. (And, occasionally, the Main
Hall rent room.) But I'm afraid it won't be long until
she can add the castle itself ... Yes, I said afraid - because that means
that she will have finished the Lokken main quest
soon!! That was too quick!
*sniff*
Sadrith Mora and Telvanni
Country So far, she only has the Vacant
Telvanni Manor in the capital to her name. But as
Hortator, you need a town house in each of the three
Great House capitals, no? And I just like that mushroom
architecture a lot!
Places not covered
yet
Ald'Ruhn and Redoran
Country Well ... nothing yet, really. But after
getting Carnajo's Redoran texture replacer, I started to
like that architecture as well ... and combined with
that "Hortator" argument, I really should start to look
for a home there ... maybe not in Ald'Ruhn itself,
though, but maybe in Maar Gan? We'll
see.
Dagon Fel and the Sheogorad area I
always wanted to have a small shack in that area, with a
walkway/balcony overlooking the sea, a small boat towed
under it, maybe a fishing pole, and some Dwemer
furniture inside ... Seems to fit the area,
no?
Seyda Neen Seeing as how much I
love that little town, I really should get around to
acquiring a home there! Have no idea yet as to which
one, though ...
Vivec Somehow, I feel she
should own a home (an apartment should do nicely) in
Vvardenfell's capital, too. (After all, the Temple
doesn't seem to offer accomodations for its members ...
not even for a Master of the Temple! )
Hmm ... looking at that list, I
cannot shake the feeling that my answer could have been
a lot shorter ...
Ah, Hand of
Sotha - is this actually one of your shorter responses,
indeed (remembering the one about npcs as friends...)
?
But I can say nonetheless that I know
what you're talking about...there are many places in
this game who make excellent living spaces for many
characters!
I have to say that my favourite one
after all these years still is: *drumroll* Tel Uvirith
(albeit heavily modded/personalized). Does this come as
a surprise to anyone who has had a look at the tagline
beneath my avatar?
But I also like the area around
Pelagiad very much, nice landscape and interesting
community (with LGNPC, especially) - where Rakiel lives
at the outskirts in the very cozy Abu's Retreat by
Phoebe...a perfect fit!
Solstheim was originally not a place I
fancied living in. But entrancing LoKKen has become a
kind of second home to Cincaid and the Dunmer Paladin
Zargoth-Yar lives arrogantly ever after as Lord-Knight
of Korana's beautiful Solstheim Castle...
If I were to look for a location for a
new PC, I would definitely think about something on the
shores of the picturesque Bitter Coast, maybe a mansion
in the vincinity of Seyda Neen and its convenient Silt
Strider service...
Lokken Unavoidable, after
laying eyes on the beauty of that island for the first
time ... *another dreamy sigh* For now, Mora has
a campsite at the end of that pass that leads from the
Main Hall to the valley beyond, and her Ashlander
Tent a bit north of the green eastern part of

*sniff*
If it is of any
relief, the quests in Lokken will be far from over just
because the main quest is. You will be involved in
domestic problems and various missions, like finding a
thief, organizing a better life for Valkyriana and her
daughter, get Sigrid new school books and Granny new
ingredients, help Borka test new meads, you will almost
ruin and then mend a marriage, and you will help
villagers with anything from rat invasions to romance
problems. and of course get little Agnes the dog she
desires... These quests and many others cannot be done
until after the main quest - I added them to give people
a reason to return to Lokken . And, if you marry Wulfren/Laurenna, there's
also the child addon.
Well after
reading everyone's comments, I can say the place my
character called home for a long time is the much loved
town of Ald'Rhun. I hate the storms there but its
actually quite convenient and since I never give my
character a mod house until he finishes the main quest
(at which point I figure the mod house is a gift for
getting rid of that annoying Dagoth Ur character),
Ald'Rhun has one of my favorite rooms for resting.
The room is the enchanter's room in the Mage's
Guild.
As a member of Redoran and the
Mage's Guild, there is very few other rooms that I
liked. Balmora MG has no private rooms (there is
something about waking up every day and seeing all the
guild members constantly staring at you that gives one
the creeps) and Sadith Mora MG has no room period (I
don't even want to know where the guild members eat,
sleep. etc and it must smell like a locker room in
there). Caldera MG is close to the Creeper and has
a storage room but its not my favorite room. So I
ended up in Ald'Rhun. As for Redoran's rooms, the
area inside Skarr is almost bigger than Ald'Rhun itself
and is not too easy to get around. The Ald Ruhn MG
is near the silt strider and has a guild guide. It
is also conveniently located close to the Redoran
headquarters to get quests etc.
I used to
use the guest room in the MG until I ended up with so
much stuff, I didn't have any place to walk around (this
seems to always happen once I start on the Ashlander
tribe quests that seems to give you a load of junk).
One day, I accidentally left the door open to the
enchanter's room and she wandered out and never went
back into her room. I figured I would use the room
for her. The room is very big for a single room
and well laid out with a few ingredient containers for
potion ingredients, a kiln and anvil for armory, a
separate bedroom with a few crates and a lot of floor
space to just drop junk. I avoid unlocking the
dresser full of enchanted items since I just want to use
the room and not steal her stuff. I've added a set
of alchemy equipment, a chandelier from a furniture mod,
one red lantern behind the kiln for effect and a few
plants and shields in the bedroom wall and voila, it
becomes a really cozy room. In addition it was a
nice choice after loading up Tribunal since my character
could prepare for any Dark Brotherhood attack (since it
seems the Brotherhood trains their assasins to kill
people but they don't train them on how to open unlocked
doors).
After the MQ, I usually give my character
Abu's retreat as his gift from the people of Vvardenfell
(yes I still use this mod). Its not too large or
small, its well decorated and laid out and its in a
great location near the road, walking distance to
Pelagiad and has a small pond with no fish for swimming
and occasionally collecting pearls. It has a bunch
of tall mushrooms to levitate to and watch the night
sky. I can also get to Vivec, Ebonhart (sp?),
Pelagiad and Balmora just with Devine or Almsivi
Intervention.
I later found I had a nice
bunch of smugglers as neighbors. I went to greet
them and tell them I was new to the neighborhood.
They were quite hostile at first but after
complimenting them on their looks and the wonderful
decorating skills of their cave ("I love your indoor
natural pool and that netch lether armor just goes well
with your dagger") and giving them a bunch of sujamma,
they seemed to have become quite friendly and we can
have some wild parties in there. Of course they
sometimes get out of control and Laureena has to kill
one of them to calm them down but overall a good bunch
of people.
Of course Lokken is the third
home and with the ring, I seem to be able to get to a
majority of places up north without walking (From Abu, I
can ring to Lokken, use Divine intervention and Almsivi
intervention to get to Gnisis in a flash). it does
seem to upset Sigrid when I pop in and pop out but she
got used to it. Its just a bit too cold for my
character. Laureena of course doesn't seem to mind
it a bit of course.
Just wanted to say , and to again thank you for the help you
provided with Laurenna acting up
I have been living in Ald-ruhn, too,
btw... in spite of the ghastly sand storms! I killed an
evil woman in a house, and then I moved in there. Later
on, I gave myself a Vivec abode in reward for killing
Dagoth Ur, but I still keep the Ald-ruhn house for
storage space.
It was my pleasure to be whatever small help
I could be. I have zero modding skill so I rely on
the wonderful mods available to the public and they have
made Morrowind a much more enjoyable place.
I usually take
over some of the more interesting spaces who's previous
occupants have been evacuated. Right now I
have a character who considers the Ihinipalit Shrine in
the canalworks of St. Delyn's Canton home. I did
console out the red candles and drop in my own lights
but living in a shrine to Sheogorath seems fitting for
this character.
I'm also fond of the larger room
in the top of Shenk's Shovel. Of course that's too
much like cheating so I pay him 250 gold each month in
rent. I even made a little mod to remind me to
pay. Caldera is nice because in addition to guild
guide access to Sadrith Mora and Vivec you can use
Interventions to get to two other cities, Almsivi takes
you to Balmora and Divine gets you to
Ald-ruhn.
The Valenvaryon huts were a base of
operation in one game, but I got tired of the ash and
blight storms. If wanted those I could live in
Ald-ruhn. Some of the other strongholds are nice,
especially if you use my Propylons mod since they allow
for fairly easy travel.
Dagon Fel will
always hold a special place in my heart, and that's were
I see just about all of my characters settling
down.
Sigh. As the sun sets over the Sea
of Ghosts, brilliantly illuminating the heavy
rain-clouds that sprinkle these, the northernmost isles
of Vvardenfell, with a gentle rain, CHARNAME closes the
door to his cozy little cottage at the edge of Dagon Fel
and sits down on his comfortable chair by the crackling
fire... On the walls hang reminders of countless
adventures, now gathering the dust of peace and
tranquility... As the muted sound of the surf
pounding the shores rumbles outside, our hero takes a
sip of flin and opens his book...
Hmm, now that
you mention it, this house must be one of the standard
Dagon-Fel houses, since I've never heard of a modded
house in Dagon Fel. Which means it has dirt floors
and a roof made of grass!
Suddenly it doesn't
sound so nice and cozy anymore...

I released a
mod putting a small house in Dagonfel called Dagonview
House, recently. I did this because there were no nice
house mods in Dagonfel. It's nothing hugely special but
it does have a gorgeous view. It's up on Planet Elder
Scrolls (old Summit site) I would live just south of
Ebonheart on the island there.
Balmora is my
favourite city, then i have 4 pretty houses in it; but
when i need to study magic a little more, i go to my
nice cottage in The Bitter Coast, very close to the
kwama egg mine.... when i keep all the ingredients that
i need for making potions. However, also Pelagiad and
Suran are nice cities: i like very much have a little
bit of rest in the mansions i've bought in them!

There was an old
but - as far as I can recall - very nice housemod in
Dagon Fel made by a team called Morrowind Abodes. I
think it was a rather small house, located slightly
outside Dagon Fel. Alas, I don't think I have it
anymore.

I don't know which Suran
house you are using, but I know a house there which I
like a lot: Villa Fortuna by
TextureFreak.
I use the Suran
Estate Mod; it's a big house, close to the silt strider
service, and outside it looks like the typical Balmora
guard tower. Inside i have a kitchen, an alchemy room, a
library, a trophy room, two other underground rooms with
many storage spaces and a... millionairew NPC! Also a
balcony with a breathtaking view on the lake and a
master suite, naturally... Not a "clean" mod, but the
house is very beautiful!
Alas, many, many mods is dependant on
Tribunal. Is there any chance that you can get the
GOTY-version of MW? It's usually very cheap now, and
would make it possible for you to use so many more mods.
I'm very fond
of castles. Assuming that I'm like most of my
characters, rich enough to afford the many guards and
large staff it would need, I think I could be quite
comfortable in the grandiose but authentic and historic
Castle Vianden, overlooking Sadrith Mora. It would need
some redecorating of course, and I'd want to hire Korana
for that.

Yes, but
only using the house mod is like... like licking on the
ice cream paper instead of eating the ice cream!!! There
are thousands of mods - quest mods, game enhancers,
texture replacers, companions, children, animals,
dungeons - and the majority of them are depending on
Tribunal.
GOTY-version... you should be able to
find it in your local gaming store.
There's some
interesting mods which require only Morrowind, but with
the Tribunal and Bloodmoon improvements (new or fixed
fonctions for scripting, new models, and so on), modders
mostly use the both expansion set.
If you really
like Morrowind, you should buy the Goty edition to get
the expansion packs. They might have some of them on
Amazon, by instance.

As a place for my
characters to live, I don't much like it either. You're
right that it doesn't feel very Morrowind, though it
isn't that far off from Imperial castle architecture.
For actual game play, it's very bare and needs a full
interior makeover. Redecorating it is too much of a
project; I tried that, using some furniture mods, and it
was taking all my play time. If I ever learn to mod
houses, I'd try redecorating it that way. But I wouldn't
mind living there myself, if I could pay somebody to
redecorate it for me.
As is, I'm fond of
Korana's house mods. They're fully furnished and very
comfy-cozy. Her Ascadian Rose Cottage would suit me very
well, though I'd prefer to be closer in to a major city,
unless I could teleport like my characters. My favorite
residence of all would probably be her Magus Realm
Tower, which however isn't strictly speaking in
Morrowind at all, but rather in a pocket
dimension.
So
why wouldn't I love Solstheim Castle? That's a sizable
castle, already decorated Korana-style, as I would wish
for Vianden to be. I'm not sure. Something about the
architecture doesn't feel like a proper castle to me.
And the location in Solstheim is nice for a vacation
retreat, but I'd rather be in Morrowind proper and near
a city.

Ah, thank you
Emma! Normally I don't go for house mods, but a
nice little place in Dagon Fel *would* be a lot better
than Caius' run-down old tenement..

I'm not
very interested to quest mods, 'cos they are all in
english, and i run the italian version of Morrowind (
translated by the ITP, Italian Translation Project). As
you can see, i can understand english language fine, but
'cos my MW is in italian, i think read new NPC's
sentences in another language can irritate a little...
And about texture's, the original Bethesda are
the best for me.

Not sure whether
it is available for download on its own anymore, but it
should be included in the Morrowind Abodes Collection. (No
worries, Balathustrius, that collection seems to include
the separate ESPs, so you won't have to install all six
houses just to get one.)
Oh, and I agree with
Emma - it does look very
nice!
My favorite
area of Vvardenfell is the Grazelands, green, fresh,
beautiful, almost no cliff racers but plenty of other
wildlife and a few bad guys to keep it interesting. I
even like it when it rains there. A little rural maybe
but with a good teleport modd or two that isn't much of
a problem. I also have a new favorite house, only it
isn't really a house but I still think it's a great
place to live. “The Remote Island” from the Harvish
modd. My latest PC and Laura spent a few days there
after they were engaged. I fixed it up with a nice
shelter, sleeping mats, a couple of chairs and a table,
a camp fire on the beach, containers with books, food,
drinks and so on. Laura seamed to like it but refused to
call it a home, my PC is a little disappointed about
that. I include a few pics from the
island in case you havn't been there. hidden: A swim in the
morning
Oom:
“The perfect is the ultimate and the ultimate is death.”
So death is the perfect thing. Merlin: No, you are
missing the point. A man how has set out for perfection
can only achieve what he can imagine. And he will always
be eclipsed by one man how has set out to do his best
and therefor is free to grasp what is beyond the
imaginable.
My stronghold
at Bal Isra! Of course, that is with the mod I made that
makes the area all around Bal Isra, Ald-Ruhn and between
free of ash storms, and covered in a thick forest. I
specifically did this when I realised that House Redoran
had really drawn the short straw when it came to who got
last choice of land. That's what they get for being
patriots to their homeland and not collaborating with
the Empire (rants about treacherous, greedy, honourless
Hlaalu ). I figured I would let Redoran have some good
land in their possession, even if it goes against their
ethics. (Of course, I would still live in Bal Isra if
it was in the crater of Dagoth Ur itself, but I couldn't
resist making it nicer) Loyal to Redoran all the
way!
My character
has houses all ovet the place, seems to collect them as
a hobby. The one he uses right now is Asgard v3.0. with
it's panoramic view of the city. He became attached to
Balmora the first time he saw it and has always lived
there. Now that Balmora has grown into a major city
(with the help of Balmora Expanded) he'll never leave.
Laura, Morgana, and Spot all seem at home in Asgard, so
here he'll stay.
My stronghold at Bal Isra! Of course,
that is with the mod I made that makes the area all
around Bal Isra, Ald-Ruhn and between free of ash
storms, and covered in a thick forest. I specifically
did this when I realised that House Redoran had really
drawn the short straw when it came to who got last
choice of land. That's what they get for being patriots
to their homeland and not collaborating with the Empire
(rants about treacherous, greedy, honourless Hlaalu ). I figured I would let Redoran have some good
land in their possession, even if it goes against their
ethics. (Of course, I would still live in Bal Isra if
it was in the crater of Dagoth Ur itself, but I couldn't
resist making it nicer) Loyal to Redoran all the
way!
Well, as a loyal Redoran, you *could*
of course also decide that the place is nice as it is
without mods and simply decide that by living in Bal Isra,
you won't ever have to think about any tedious garden
work
I am a Redoran, too, in my only
highlevel ongoing game, and I must admit that your idea
of recreating the environment sounds appealing to me...
Or are there any released mods that will do the same
thing?? (yeah, I'm lazy )

That's one thing I don't get. Redoran
controls the Western Gash region, plenty of nice land
around there. Yet, the stronghold you get is right in
the Ashlands. I can understand making the stronghold
near that big old crab, but couldnt' they have gone west
intead of north?
And Hlaalu are not traitors,
they just adapt to the times.
In unmodded
Morrowind, my home base has always been in Balmorra. The
place just has that happy feeling to it, and the wide
variety of quests and expansion mods always keep me
coming back.
In mods, Lokken (which I only just
discovered days ago, after having had Blades: Lost Heir
for months) has become my new favorite hangout. I very
much look forward to future addons to its wonderful
environment, and would like to express my gratitude for
its existence.
There is one other, older mod that
I enjoy for a 'house', that being the Archmage Tower of
Pelegiad. There's some rooms in that mod that are quite
beautiful (the void chamber comes to mind, for anyone
who knows it).
For beauty of
landscape: Pelagiad, also there is a very friendly home
to get for free quite soon in the game: Ahnassi´s house.
Purr-fect! I like cats. As I like to explore all
those islands along the coast of Vvardenfell by boat
(Selln´Sell Galleon), I like to have access to
waterways, so my char lives in the house of the orc lady
in Balmora you have to push aside quite early in your
Fighters Guild career. I only got one house mod
permanently installed: Two moon manor in Suran (also a
waterway town).- Big, spacious, stylish and a great
swimming pool inside.

Ah, they probably just like pain
and suffering :p! Or they dislike you - a slimy
outlander invading their island and their House and
becoming Nerevariine! So, what's do they give you? Bal
Isra! Luckily, you can mod the place to better fit
your taste

I think that Green Morrowind
does, but I don't like it as It changes *all* the
Ashlands, Molag Amur and even Red Mountain into lush
green forest covered lands (I find that it ruins the
desolate feel. In fact, thats what the modder intended
to do!). AND it accidentally re-textures the Dunmer
ashpits so they are filled with grass!
That's why
I decided to make my own landscape. Far easier, and
leaves plenty ash-storm wracked lands for lore's
sake.
Or they dislike you - a slimy outlander
invading their island and their House and becoming
Nerevariine! So, what's do they give you? Bal
Isra!
If Bolvyn Venim had any say in the
construction of my stronghold, He WOULD have it built in
the crater of Red Mountian! (I'm surprised he didn't. He
is Archmaster, after all. Okay, he was. Hehe.
)
*LOL* I wouldn't put that past Telvanni.
Easy way to dispose of potential usurpers, without them
suspecting it . They do mention poison as being a traditional
way of solving disputes...
As for the Hlaalu
Stronghold, I am sure they would let you keep it...
untill someone with even more money than you
showed up.
Got another beautiful place to spend
some time: Zainab camp. For your relaxed summer holidays
out in the field.
Ah!! Then I must add
a mod recommendatioin! TextureFreak's Grazeland Estate, located next to the
camp. With teleport service to various Morrowind
locations. The place has a bar (with talkative regulars
by yours truly), dancing floor and bards, a little art
museum, nice staff and gouorgeous view over the
grazelands.
For some weird reason, I don't get
the screenshots when I load his page , hope it's just a local problem for me.
Anyway, even if you cannot see the screenies, it's well
worth the download.
Ya know, Emma... that actually makes
sense. Would also explain why Hlaalu gives you a decent
plot of land.
Oh? Because they plan to steal it
back later ? (Runs and
hides...)
Maybe the plot of land is not as
decent as a clueless Outlander might assume ... Anyone
ever seen the deciphered version of Neminda's Orders, which you get handed
while posing as Relmerea Saram in a very early Hlaalu
quest? ("Orphan of Arnesia", anyone?)
... but at least I do
have a rather good idea who the Redoran agent here on
the Rethan Manor forum is! Don't I, my
lady?
(Of course, were the situation the
other way 'round, i.e. a Hlaalu agent at Indarys Manor,
I would be very careful about suspecting someone of whom
I know she has a penchant for associating with
the Hlaalu. That would be too easy ... and therefore
must be a Red Slaughterfish. But you Redor-, err, the Redoran
tend to be less, how shall I put this ... complicated?
Subtle? )
Hand of Sotha, of course open to
brib- ... amicable agreements, I mean!
Emma: Thanks for the link! Now if somebody
would make a nice mod of my light, but claustrophobic
Hilleberg Nallo tunnel tent... the rest: Veeery interesting. I knew there must be some reason why
Magicflame invited me to get inte Rethan Manor.
Ah, I don't get
it - who cares where home is? You can't use anything
there, you can't sit down or lie in your bed reading a
book. All you can do is stand there looking at the
walls, or whatever, or looking at your
character.
That's why I sleep in the wilderness,
and my home is the top of any tall mountain in
Solstheim, so I can take in the vistas AND check my
character out at the same time
Having said that, it's nice to hear the
song sung by the Nord Bard in Thirsk. That's a
nice Mead Hall if ever I saw one. Ah, Solstheim, my one
true love... Sorry, Laura - here's a Gold Kanet flower
for you
perhaps *the*
favorite location on Vvardenfell for my main char is the
Hlaalu stronghold (Odai Plateau?)... Since he's a
Telvanni, that means cleaning it of the Hlaalu presense
>.>
in Solstheim, his favorite location is
Thirsk...
From the mods I've tried, I liked
Solstheim Castle the best though O.O (that being said, I
haven't tried any Emma/Grumpy mods yet
>.>)

So your saying Redorans aren't subtle? And
who is to say we haven't got spies hidden
everywhere? And who is to say we don't have an
assassin ready to plunge a knife in your back at any
moment? Hmm... that would be too dishonourable,
stabbing in the back. Okay then, who is to say we
don't have an assassin ready to... umm... challenge you
to an... honourable duel, then? Oh forget it, I
suppose you are right... Damn this honourable
conduct!
Somewhere in
West Gash, I think. I hate warm weather, so that
rules out the Ascadian Isles and Bitter Coast.
Plus, West Gash seems like it would be a great place to
go hiking--pretty scenery, old ruins to
explore.

Why do you think the Ascadian
Isles has a warm weather? I thought it would be more
like... France, or Holland.
